The Institute was established on April 1, 1978 as the “Institute of Applied Energy” with the purpose of contributing to the sound development of the national economy through the establishment and improvement of a systematic foundation for energy technology. Recognizing that it is technology that will open the way to the future of energy, we have been diligently carrying out research activities as a think tank. In accordance with the reform of the public interest corporation system, the Institute became a “general incorporated foundation” on April 1, 2013.
